DESCRIPTION:Come learn what makes a vegetable garden both beautiful and productive. Bible Street Community Garden member Florence Boogaerts will walk through a variety of possible designs and approaches using images of gardens from around the world and her vast experience as a garden designer and teacher. \n\n\n\nSince 1988\, Florence Boogaerts was the landscape designer at Sprainbrook Nursery in Scarsdale\, New York\, where she designed and supervised the installation of gardens and landscapes. Since 2003\, Boogaerts has had her own landscape design business. According to clients\, Boogaerts strives to create maintainable and beautiful landscapes. “I like it when clients have something specific in mind. Then\, I can give it to them in a tasteful\, practical manner\,” she says. She received her certificate in landscape design from the New York Botanical Garden\, where she has lectured since 1994. \n\n\n\nThis lecture is offered as a part of our Vegetable Gardening series presented in proud partnership with Greenwich Community Gardens.

SUMMARY:Community Garden Sign Up Days: day one
DESCRIPTION:Greenwich Community Garden Plot Sign-up Days will be Saturday\, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday\, March 3 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. New or returning gardeners interested in gardening at the award-winning Armstrong Court Community Garden or the Bible Street Community Garden\, please come to the Cos Cob Firehouse\, 2nd floor\, at 200 East Putnam Ave.\, Cos Cob\, to reserve your garden plot for 2024.  \n\n\n\nGarden plots are reserved on a first-come\, first-served basis. The gardens have raised beds filled with organic soil and compost\, as well as onsite tools\, wheelbarrows\, composting systems\, and rainwater collection. Gardeners must use non-GMO organic seeds and seedlings. The Bible Street garden features 12 tabletop-height “Universal Access” plots for gardeners with limited mobility.
